Ascha’s Story

Ascha grew up on and around her paternal family’s cattle ranch in Barber County, Kansas. She graduated from Skyline High School in 2014 and moved to Wichita the following year to complete her journalism studies at Wichita State. She moved to Chicago in 2020 with her two cats, Louie and George. Outside of her professional media persona, she’s nurtured deep interests in textile arts, baking, swimming and hiking.

Ian’s Story

Ian was born and raised in south Wichita. After graduating from Derby High School in 2011, he began studying business finance at Wichita State. In early 2018, Ian got his first job in Chicago. He became a homeowner to our beloved Printer’s Row condo in 2021. When he’s not tearing his hair out over clients and spreadsheets, he enjoys archery, riding bikes, shooting pool, improv comedy and his weekly Dungeons and Dragons campaign.

Our Story

Our first encounter was at a college party in fall 2015. In early 2017 we became friends, and soon after we were madly in love. This culminated in a spontaneous roadtrip to Chicago, where we both started dreaming of a future in the city. When Ian moved to Chicago for a new job in 2018, Ascha stayed in Wichita to finish school and continue working. We maintained a long-distance relationship for several months before breaking up due to the difficulty of being physically apart. By 2020, Ascha was ready to leave Wichita, and she decided Chicago was big enough for her to avoid Ian if necessary. That was working well until one day in September 2021 when we found ourselves on the same downtown bus. Once reconnected, it soon became clear that we really can’t live without each other! Ascha moved into Ian’s condo in May 2022 with Louie and George. In August 2025, we got engaged while on a special backpacking trip with several of our close friends in Michigan’s Isle Royale National Park!
